The Vashti Center, a mission of the United Methodist Women, has provided services to children and adolescents at its Thomasville address since 1903. Driven by its mission to improve the physical, social, emotional, educational, and spiritual development of children and adolescents, Vashti has successfully served thousands of children over its century of operation. While the type of children served and the nature of services have changed since inception, the mission and values remain. Today, reflecting the national trend to deinstitutionalize residential care, Vashti has undertaken extensive growth in community mental health services, while reducing the number of children treated in our residential programs. Fundamental to all services delivered by Vashti employees is the faith-based nature of our services. Ultimately, the mind and spirit can be addressed simultaneously and we at Vashti believe our treatment must support The Lord’s service.
