About Dinner on the Bricks

Dinner on the Bricks for The Vashti Center promises to be a fun-filled dining evening. For our September 23rd event, patrons will gather a table of friends, family, or co-workers to dine in Thomasville’s brand new Amphitheater! Tables of eight start at just $300 each for patrons, with all proceeds benefiting the children. The table, white linen tablecloth and chairs are provided, everything else is up to the patron. We highly encourage you to get creative with the table decor and let your appetites decide whether you bring your own dinner or hire a caterer. Tables will go on sale to the public August 1st, with 68 tables available for purchase. Creativity is key! Costumes are welcome! Awards in various categories will be presented to winners by our celebrity judges! EVENT GUIDELINES

Our Proceeds

Support Dinner on the Bricks

100% of the proceeds from this event will benefit programs that fulfill the spiritual, physical and mental health needs of children served by Vashti.

As provider of residential and community mental health services for children and youth from 6 to 17 years of age, Vashti receives broken spirits into its care each day. Many come to our Residential Care Program from DFCS and the Juvenile Justice System, carrying with them heavy burdens from abuse and neglect. That good news is that many lives are transformed because of the outstanding counseling and spiritual assistance provided by our caring team of childcare workers, experienced therapists, trained mentors, resident chaplain and special school resources.

Last year, 64 children were served in Residential Care (located on our East Clay Street campus) and 250 children and their families through our Community Mental Health Program serving Thomas, Brooks, Colquitt, Decatur, Grady, and Mitchell Counties. Your participation in Dinner on the Brinks will help children and families in the care of Vashti find peace, healing, and renewal.

Can you park at the event?

Jackson Street, between Madison and Stevens Streets, will be closed to all traffic and parking from 4 p.m. until the end of the event. No vehicles will be allowed to park in this area. This includes catering vehicles.

Is alcohol permitted?

Alcohol (please read carefully): Beginning at 6 p.m., beer and wine will be available for purchase at designated stations, outside of Bacchus Wine Bar, in the special event area. Patrons must first present ID at the registration table to receive a wrist band and designated cup authorized by the City. Per City of Thomasville regulations for nonprofit special events, no alcohol may be brought into the event. “Brown bagging” of any kind is prohibited. No alcoholic beverage purchased within the event area shall be allowed to leave or be consumed outside the event area. Patrons are not permitted to purchase beer/wine inside Bacchus Wine Bar and bring it outside to the event area.

What can be used as decorations?

Refrain from placing any decorations or serving apparatus on the sidewalk and street. Each patron will be assigned the use of ½ of a serving table (table cloth included) for serving apparatus, coolers, and storage underneath. No elevated tables will be permitted.

Decorations are limited to TABLE TOPS AND CHAIRS ONLY. There will be no room to expand outside this permitted area. Electric power will not be provided to patrons.

Removal or modification of the table provided for the event is prohibited. If you do not wish to use the white, knee-length tablecloth provided, please return it to the registration table.

When does the judging begin?

If you are competing in the table decoration contest, your table number must remain visible until judging is completed. Table decor must be complete by 7:00pm to qualify for judging.

What time will the event end?

The event will officially conclude at 10:00pm with dancing immediately following.  All event volunteers have a great deal of work to accomplish in order to clean the event area and prepare Jackson Street to be reopened.  Please be respectful of the 10:00 pm event end time and clear your items from Jackson Street at this time.

Can I bring my own dinner or grill?

If you would like to bring your grill to prepare your table’s food, please contact Matt Delarber at (229) 672-0099 prior to the event. Grilling is limited to the grilling station area located behind Bacchus Wine Bar.

Who is responsible for damages?

The Vashti Center and the City of Thomasville are not responsible for any property damaged, stolen, or left by attendees or their caterers. Items unclaimed at the end of the evening will be discarded.

What about open flame?

Open flames and candles are not allowed, with the exception of Sterno used for chafing dishes. Battery operated lighting is permitted.

What if the event is cancelled?

Refunds for table cancellations will not be given. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather, the Vashti Center will send you written acknowledgement of your tax-deductible donation. Vashti is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
