This past Tuesday, we had the privilege of presenting honor cords to members of our Youth Advisory Council in recognition of their upcoming high school graduations. These cords, proudly reflecting Vashti blue, will be worn by the graduates during tonight’s ceremony as a symbol of their leadership, service, and dedication.

We are incredibly proud of all that these young women have accomplished. As founding members of the council, they have paved the way for youth voice and advocacy in our community. Their passion, courage, and wisdom give us hope for a brighter future.

About RCSWGA and YAC

The Resilient Communities of Southwest Georgia (RCSWGA) coalition is led by The Vashti Center’s Training & Outreach team as part of a regional effort to build trauma-informed, connected communities across nine counties in Southwest Georgia. Through education, advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration, RCSWGA works to equip youth-serving professionals and community leaders with the tools they need to foster resilience and promote mental wellness.

As part of this mission, RCSWGA established and oversees Vashti’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC)—a student-led initiative that empowers high school youth to elevate their voices, advocate for mental health awareness, and lead service projects that strengthen their communities. The council plays a critical role in shaping outreach efforts, ensuring that youth perspectives remain at the heart of the coalition’s work.
