Building Resilience in Southwest Georgia: Trauma-Informed Communities Grant Now Open!

Resilient Communities of Southwest Georgia (RC SWGA), a program of The Vashti Center, is thrilled to launch the Trauma-Informed Communities Grant—a powerful funding opportunity designed to strengthen our region’s collective response to trauma and adversity.

This initiative isn’t just about funding programs. It’s about investing in hope, healing, and systems change—ensuring our communities have the tools they need to prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and respond effectively when trauma occurs.

Why This Grant? Why Now?

Southwest Georgia is full of resilient families, dedicated professionals, and compassionate organizations. But we also know that many of our communities face barriers—poverty, violence, addiction, and systemic inequities—that can increase the risk of trauma, particularly for children and youth.

We’re launching this grant because:

Prevention is powerful. The earlier we intervene with trauma-informed practices, the more we can shift lifelong outcomes for children and families.

Community-led solutions matter. Local organizations know best what their communities need. This grant supports your vision, your leadership, and your ability to create meaningful, place-based change.

We believe in equity and access. By offering funding to a range of partners—including schools, churches, nonprofits, and government agencies—we hope to make trauma-informed care a reality in every corner of our nine-county region.

Grant Focus Areas

We’re looking to fund projects that align with at least one of the following priorities:

  • Program Costs
  • Support for direct implementation expenses such as community education events, outreach efforts, trauma-informed trainings, or train-the-trainer models.
  • Capacity Building
  • Funding to strengthen your organization’s trauma-informed services through leadership development, staff training, or infrastructure enhancements.
  • Expansion Efforts
  • Financial assistance to broaden the geographic reach of successful trauma-informed programs to create a greater regional impact.

Whether you’re planting the first seeds of a new initiative or building upon years of trauma-informed work, this grant is here to help you grow.
